Verizon To Discontinue Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plans

  • The dreaded words people who have grandfathered unlimited data plans were finally heard today.  According to Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo, all customers will be migrated off unlimited data plans and moved on to a new data-share plan this summer. Simply put, Fran Shammo stated:

“Everyone will be on data share”

If you upgrade to a new phone, and have an unlimited data plan, you won’t be able to take it with you.  It is yet known if this will be for only 4G phones, and/or how much the new data plans will cost consumers.

It is truly a sad day where we loose unlimited data with another major wireless carrier.  As we go more mobile by each passing pay, gobbling up more and more MBs and MBs like ever before, it’s a real shame to be limited.

I know for me personally, I use alot of data (about 4GB/mth unlimited).  I use my mobile device often to check email, facebook, G+, because it is more practical and it is actually faster as wifi is slow where I am.  I’m not looking forward to when I upgrade my phone this summer (probably Galaxy SIII), to be switched to limited data.

    What are your thoughts?
