Kazam, Screencasting Tool, Receives An Update

  • The Kazam screencasting app (the one I use for my screencasts) has received a pretty substantial update, bringing it to version 1.0

    Changes with Kazam 1.0 include:

    – Ability to record certain screen regions
    – Support for two audio channels, with volume settings
    – Output can be saved in WebM or Matroska
    – Uses gstreamer instead of ffmpeg
    – Countdown timer is now customizable, from 1-65 seconds
    – Countdown window has now variable width
    – Adjustable framerate, from 1-60 fps
    – Ability to turn off recording mouse cursor

    Install Kazam in Ubuntu

Kazam 1.0 is available from its unstable PPA, for Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/unstable-series
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install kazam
