Remove Drive Icons From the Desktop ~ Ubuntu 11.04

  • If you are like me and like to keep your desktop clean, I have a little tip for you. You can remove icons on your desktop for flash drives and/or external hard drives you have plugged into your computer.

Press Alt + F2 on your keyboard to launch the run dialog box.

    Run:

    gconf-editor

Navigate to apps > nautilus > desktop and uncheck “volumes_visible”.
